Civics and God

(Today, I am taking a break from Rutted Dirt Roads.
That series will return with my next post.)

Old Glory

Then Jesus told them,
“Give the Emperor what belongs to him

A Prayerful Heart

and give God what belongs to God.”
The men were amazed at Jesus.
St. Mark 12: 17 (CEV)
I cast my ballot yesterday and gave to my country what belongs to my country.

Both prior to voting and following it, I pray and give to God what belongs to God.

The fate of my country lies not in my ballot, but in my prayer. That, however, does not free me from the responsibility of casting my ballot; many have died that I might enjoy that freedom. For those who died, I have proudly performed my civic duty.

Though I am disappointed in the results of the election process, I know our future is held within the hands of a gracious God who expects obedience and will chastise those who are disobedient.

May we, as a people, repent and return to our God.

Then if my people who are called by my name
will humble themselves and pray and seek my face
and turn from their wicked ways,
I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins
and restore their land.

II Chronicles 7:14   (NLT)

Make this your common practice:
Confess your sins to each other
and pray for each other
so that you can live together whole and healed.
The prayer of a person living right with God
is something powerful to be reckoned with.
James 5: 16 (The Message)

So true, Diane.

As they said in our women's Bible study group this morning,

"No matter who is president, Jesus is still King."

blessings to you - Marsha

dear diane..i just came here and how your post has lightened my heart of fear...when bernie told me last night that president obama won the election, i was so much in fear...my good friend felisol wrote to tell me that god would never forsake us and the comments that i read from the email that jada gigi helped me to send out from my email, were so helpful...but these verses that you quoted here are so full of hope..wouldn't it be so glorious if the united states as a whole would turn and repent...god is a forgiver of our sins and a forgiver of a country that would truly turn from their evil ways...diane ..i pray that his will be so!....in the meantime we must continue to pray for mr.obama as the lord instructs us to do because as jada gigi says...GOD is still in control...i love you diane..love terry

what a perfectly beautiful looking flag

I pray not just for our country but that the Holy Spirit would fall on our Capitol and soften the hearts of our leaders and save their souls!

As disappointed as I was with the results of the election, I am doing my best to remind myself that God is in control. And I pray - every day - come quickly Lord Jesus.
