God Is My Fortress

Avadon Black Fortress

Some friends and I have been having an online discussion regarding some things that currently unfolding in world events.  We agree it is fulfillment of Bible prophecy that these things are happening.  We cannot control current events or how nations and governments conduct themselves.  However, we have the best resource available when our world troubles us.........the living Word of God.  It matters not how events develop, our God remains in control.

As a Christian, I find solace and comfort in that.  My ending is established in the throne room of heaven.  I have nothing to fear.  Praise God for an election made sure on the day I asked Jesus Christ to reside in my heart and to cleanse me from sin.  Bad things and bad people will be in my life and in yours.  Does your soul have a place of comfort and refuge?  If not, may I introduce you the the King of Glory?  He is the answer when it seems your world is falling apart.

A Mighty Fortress Is Our God, a hymn with both lyrics and melody composed by Martin Luther, was written by Luther between 1527 and 1529.  It is a basic paraphrase of the 46th Psalm.  This hymn has been dear to my heart for many years.

A Mighty Fortress Is Our God

A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing;
Our helper He, amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing:
For still our ancient foe doth seek to work us woe;
His craft and power are great, and, armed with cruel hate,
On earth is not his equal.

Did we in our own strength confide, our striving would be losing;
Were not the right Man on our side,
the Man of God’s own choosing:
Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is He;
Lord Sabaoth, His Name, from age to age the same,
And He must win the battle.

And though this world, with devils filled, should threaten to undo us,
We will not fear, for God hath willed
His truth to triumph through us:
The Prince of Darkness grim, we tremble not for him;
His rage we can endure, for lo, his doom is sure,
One little word shall fell him.

That word above all earthly powers, no thanks to them, abideth;
The Spirit and the gifts are ours through Him Who with us sideth:
Let goods and kindred go, this mortal life also;
The body they may kill: God’s truth abideth still,
His kingdom is forever.

I pray all will have a blessed Lord's Day.  What a joy to know God is my fortress and I have nothing to fear!

“Be still, and know that I am God!
I will be honored by every nation.
I will be honored throughout the world.”
The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is here among us;
the God of Israel is our fortress.

Psalm 46: 10-11   (NLT)

Dear Diane,
We used to sing, "A mighty fortress is our God" in school.
Back then we started every day with a Hymn and Our Lord's Prayer.
Nowadays this is not allowed.
The minority is ruling the majority.
It's so sad, but we know, in the end we shall win the siege. I just hope for a major awakening before the final battle. There are so many who need salvation, who actually are living in ignorance and fear.
If I can win but one for eternity, it will not be in vain. That one can become the next great missionary.
You know, the evil tries to convince me, there's so little I can do. In the end it's not so little. His word shall not return empty.
Amen

Amen! God is my fortress everyday! Whether it be WW3 I'm facing or the frustrations of an everyday life...He gets me through. Sometimes the everyday stuff, the mundane, the day in and day out can almost be more difficult that dealing with the big stuff...the little stuff drones on and on and can wear a body out. But we can run to the throne room and hide ...where we are safe!
