May 4, 1974

On this day in 1974, Terry proposed to me. It was the happiest day of my life, to that point. I have written that story already and you can find it here. This is a recent picture of the rings he chose for me:

When I opened the box, I nearly fainted! I could not believe that 1) he was asking me to marry him and 2) he had chosen these gorgeous rings! You must remember that I was only 16 at the time. I was so in love with him and so captivated by his love. To think that he felt the same about me was pure joy.

It's been 35 years and, even though he is now with our Lord, I love him more than I could have even imagined then. When he went home, I thought I would not be able to bear the pain. However, the Lord has been so faithful to me and so merciful. He has filled the void left in my heart and my soul with wonderful memories of our life together and with His love.

I love you, my baby. I have for so long and I will continue to do so for all eternity.

Diane:

What a gift that you have all these wonderful memories of Terry and you. I think how few marriages make it and even with those there are a lot of them that are unhappy. You had a wonderful loving marriage, too soon over but still what a blessing to have found this kind of love.

I love your stories about Terry and yourself. You can feel the love that you two shared. It touches my heart to read about two people who were so happy in their marriage. : )

Hey Diane!

Thanks for visiting my blog and joining as a follower!

You were so blessed to find your soul mate at such an early age! I met and married my soul mate when I was 23.

The rings Terry picked out for you are beautiful!

My husband didn't have enough money to buy my diamond ring when we were engaged which was fine with me because I knew he was the one. We searched for almost a year before we found my diamond ring. When we did find it, we were able to pay cash for it. On our 10th wedding anniversary he told me to go and find another ring. I told him the ring I have is perfect! Why would I want another ring? It would have to be a much bigger ring and it would just cost way more than I would want to pay for it. And what would I do with my old ring? I told him I would rather buy our bedroom furniture. So, we bought our bedroom furniture for our 10th wedding anniversary.

Sorry for a long comment!
Hugs,
Angela

Wow -- not bad for a young guy! Those rings are gorgeous. But if you are like me, the rings are only a represent his love. Without his love, the rings would have meant nothing.

Love your story.

I only where a wedding ring on my finger. I have never had an engagement ring from Dave, we only exchanged bands. Unfortunately, he lost his swimming in the Firehole River in Yellowstone back in 1992. I was going to replace it but he said he didn't need one. I'm surprised it doesn't bother me but I am fine with it. One weekend while we were on a quick getaway to Colorado after his Haz-Mat training, we drove to Leadville. he surprised me with a beautiful heart, diamond necklace and a poem. What a romantic guy I am married to!

I developed allergy to metals after my children were born...and to this day I cannot wear jewelry...it was a sad day when I had to have my wedding band cut from my finger...we did meld it back together and I sometimes where it around my neck on a nylon cord...the love in our hearts is one of the greatest message we can show the world about marriage. I am blessed when I read of the love you shared with Terry......

I pray for peace and comfort for you, dear one. As I told you awhile back, I can't even IMAGINE life without my husband of over 49 years. If I face it, I am so thankful to have God with me..just like HE is with you. We both know we couldn't handle it without HIM.
hugs and love, bj

I always celebrate the day Randy and I got engaged. Notice I said, "I" and not "we". He forgets. ;)

Still praying for you my friend! Terry was certainly handsome and look at the both of you at that tender age, over 30 years ago. Where does the time go? ....an encouragement to know that it won't be long until you're together again. Time passes quickly. It won't be long until we'll be out of this world and spending eternity with our Lord. Come quickly, Lord Jesus!!

ah ha...the word verification for this post is "poofwutu"...that's the sound when we're all raptured out of here...POOF...wutu....

Aw... such sweet memories.

I love hearing about proposals.

One of the hardest things to do in my life was to stop wearing my wedding ring (a year after my husband passed away). Sometimes, I wear it around the house to feel close to him.
